迈克尔·帕金（Michael Parkin）先后在英国的莱斯特大学和艾塞克斯大学接受过经济学教育。目前在加拿大西安大略大学任教。迈克尔·帕金教授曾在布朗大学、曼彻斯特大学、埃塞克斯大学和波德大学任教。他曾任加拿大经济学会主席，并曾在《美国经济评论》和《货币经济学杂志》编辑委员会任职，曾任《加拿大经济学杂志》执行主编。帕金教授研究宏观经济学、货币经济学和国际经济学，在包括《美国经济评论》《政治经济学杂志》《经济研究评论》、《货币经济学杂志》和《货币、信贷与银行杂志》在内的多个学术期刊上发表论文160余篇，并汇编成册。他在公众中最有影响的是关于不相信工资与价格控制可以控制通货膨胀的研究。迈克尔.帕金是欧洲货币联盟运动的先锋，更是一位经验丰富又具有奉献精神的基础经济学教授，由他编写的经济学入门教科书，在美国、英国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新加坡、中国香港等国家和地区被广泛采用，近两年一跃成为全球基础经济学教材市场中的佼佼者。
