本书稿由上海中国航海博物馆提供，为《国家航海》系列的第十四辑，收录学术论文11篇。本辑所选论文涵盖内容广泛，研究深入。在文献考证方面，如通过《太平广记》研究唐代漂流人的情况；在中外关系方面，如从《申报》研究近代以来的南海争端问题；在海洋经济方面，如专门论述12世纪以后中国南部海洋经济的发展；在航海地理方面，有对海道针经的研究，也有越南近海海路的研究；在区域海域史方面，有广东沿海明清之际的斗争与博弈，论文的选题较为丰富。

中国航海博物馆(China Maritime Museum)是我国首个经国务院批准设立的国家级航海博物馆，是由国家交通运输部、中国人民解放军海军、国家文物局和上海市人民政府共同支持建设的中国唯一的国家级航海博物馆。位于上海浦东临港新城。2006年1月20日在临港新城滴水湖举行中国航海博物馆工程开工奠基仪式，2010年7月5日全面建成开放。其负责主办的《国家航海》系列是该馆重点的图书出版项目，已出版十二辑。
