季晨，现任联合国总部全职同声传译。曾在母校南京大学英语系执教，并从事中英双语词典编译。后任BBC英国广播公司翻译、播音、节目制作人，亦参与《牛津高阶英汉双解词典（第四版）》编译工作。

本书为忆旧文体，讲述儿时与小动物间发生的故事，也反映出上世纪60、70年代苏北农村社会的生活场景。语言诙谐，特点在中英文双语平行创作，“一事两说”。适合学英语的中国学生及学汉语的外国学生阅读；对笔译工作者也有借鉴、启发作用；口译学生可视其为另类习题集。
